Our Story

The Holding Circle was born from lived experience. As a mother and social worker, I understand how overwhelming those early weeks can be—especially without family nearby. I created this organization to offer the kind of support every new parent deserves: practical, nurturing, and rooted in community.

The Mission

The Holding Circle is a nonprofit organization that provides free, in-home support services—including caregiving, meal preparation, and light household help—to low-income and underserved families during the critical early stages of parenthood. We exist to ensure that no new parent faces the postpartum period alone due to a lack of resources or community support.

The Holding Circle, Inc. is a federally recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and classified as a public charity by the Internal Revenue Service.
Our tax-exempt status allows donors to make tax-deductible contributions and enables us to partner with hospitals, healthcare providers, and community organizations to support families during the postpartum and early parenting period.

The Vision

The Holding Circle is a Florida-based nonprofit founded by Ruth-Ann Bent, inspired by her own journey as a mother navigating postpartum life without an extensive support system. She saw firsthand the emotional, physical, and financial toll it takes on families — and envisioned a better way.
